All too many managers walk into an interview with little or no preparation, yet complain that they do not have very good “luck” in finding good employees. This course provides participants with the skills and knowledge they need to design and conduct effective interviews that will dramatically increase the effectiveness of their hiring efforts.

Instructional Objectives:

The following topics will be covered:

  • The different types of interview questions and when it is (and isn’t) effective to use each type;
  • The different types of employment interviews and know when to use them;
  • The stages of an interview and the types of questions and techniques that are used in each stage;
  • Legal issues to consider in an interview (what you can and cannot ask);
  • How to design effective interview questions (of various types) for specific positions they are recruiting for; and
  • How to customize the templates provided to prepare effectively for interviews.

Measurable Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Prepare quickly and effectively to conduct professional quality interviews with all candidates;
  • Use a variety of types of interview questions to achieve their candidate assessment objectives;
  • Demonstrate effective use of the different skills required in various stages of the interview process; and
  • Customize the templates provided to prepare for interviews for a variety of positions.
