Taking Charge of Your Engagement at Work

This highly interactive training is designed to provide employees at any level with a solid understanding of what employee engagement is, why it matters for both immediate and long-term business success and profitability, and how to positively impact their own performance, fulfillment and engagement at work. Since up to 94% of engagement is driven by employees themselves, it is essential to develop the competencies for growing and sustaining an engaged workplace in both leaders and employees. (Note: This program is designed for employees at any level who are interested being more productive, successful and fulfilled at work, but it is highly recommended that managers for the work unit participate in this training so that they can gain a direct experience of employees’ thoughts and actions relating to enhancing their own engagement at work.)

Instructional Objectives:

This training program provides participants with the skills and knowledge to enhance their own engagement at work. It covers in the following topics:
  • Definition of employee engagement;
  • Why employee engagement matters for business: An overview of the research;
  • Who is responsible for employee engagement, you or your managers/leaders?
  • The critical link between career alignment, intrinsic motivation, and your ability to take charge of enhancing your own engagement;
  • The Kyosei Thrive Model of employee engagement;
  • How values awareness and alignment drives employee engagement;
  • Clarifying your individual values and identifying strategies to align with them at work;
  • How business and personal purpose drive employee engagement;
  • Clarifying your personal purpose and aligning it with your organization’s purpose;
  • How clarity of business and personal vision drives employee engagement;
  • Clarifying your personal vision and aligning it with achieving the vision of your company and/or work unit;
  • How individual strengths and role alignment drives employee engagement;
  • Identifying personal strengths that drive your engagement and building strategies to increase your ability to use your preferred strengths at work; and
  • Helping others to help you: the importance of being able to communicate your engagement needs to leaders, managers and colleagues in ways that help them to support your engagement at work.

Measurable Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the training participants will:

  • Understand the personal, career and business benefits of enhancing their own engagement at work.
  • Be motivated to take responsibility for positively impacting their own engagement (based on understanding of personal benefits they will experience from being engaged and working with an engaged team).
  • Have clarity on the specific strengths, opportunities and gaps that are supporting or blocking employee engagement for them as an employee and in their company overall.
  • Connect with and create strategies to align with the brand foundations of the company in all aspects of their day-to-day work.
  • Identify priorities for enhancing their own engagement at work.
  • Feel more confident and in control of their own success and fulfillment at work.
  • Create a concrete action plan for growing and sustaining their own engagement at work.

Assessement Methods:

Our instructors are continuously assessing the student’s comprehension and ability to apply their learning through assignments, case studies, and interactive classroom activities that check for understanding. This is crucial in today’s fast-paced business environment as each new skill participants not only learn, but are able to apply in the workplace will have a huge positive impact on the business’s ability to thrive. Unlike structured public courses at colleges and universities that provide more general knowledge and must follow a rigid timeline, our on-site group training format allows our instructors to take the time to ensure that participants are able to take the skills and knowledge they gain in class and apply it to their unique situation to get the results they want in their work and business. We assess the student’s learning and progress using the following methods:

  • Application assignments for in between each training session to apply what was learned in their role in the business. (These assignments are sent in to the instructor in between each session so that the instructor can review them and provide further feedback if the student has not completed the assignment correctly.)
  • Interactive exercises, questions and discussion during the training sessions to ensure that the student understands how to apply the concepts in their role and/or business.
  • Student self-evaluation of their learning at the beginning and end of the program. (This is a brief 5 minute paper survey that the student takes at the beginning and end of each module to provide them with a measure of the knowledge they have gained from the training).
  • (Note: Our instructors are always available via phone and e-mail in-between training sessions should students need assistance with their assignments. This ensures that students are able to complete assignments and be fully prepared to build on their learning in the next session.)
