VANOC (The Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games), had a very specific challenge: they had to onboard,  train and inspire hundreds of employees and volunteers — and they had to do it fast. To this end, VANOC came to Kyosei because of the work we’d done with Vancity on values alignment.

Kyosei reviewed hundreds of hours of source materials, interviewed key players, and edited filmed interviews with VANOC’s top executives. From this, Kyosei then created a rich, interactive multimedia presentation and course outline that was easy to learn and effective to run with minimal fuss.

The outcome? Participants were so inspired by the presentation that many were moved to tears. And when you move the heart, the mind follows….

All told, the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games was a huge success. In the two weeks of festivities, Vancouver greeted 650,000 visitors and the event is now considered one of the most successful to date, and an oft-referenced case-study for the organization of large-scale events.
