You are (mostly) in:

Survive

You probably tend to avoid or resist change. You might justify this by telling yourself that the change won’t work, that you can’t learn new things, or that the people driving the change don’t understand your unique situation. When operating from a Survive Mindset, you are riding your bike while looking straight down at the road, or only at what is right in front of you. This explains why, contrary to what your instincts tell you, staying in your comfort zone doesn’t keep you safe. Remember that if security and stability is your core motivator, resisting change is more likely to result in negative consequences than getting on board with change will.

Strive

Many high performers tend to lean into change as they like to get results.  This doesn’t mean, however, that you won’t get frustrated with the change. Things may not move as quickly as you like, and you won’t always agree with how things are being done. Be careful that your “take charge” attitude doesn’t cause you to take on an unmanageable share of the workload related to the change. Slow down and take time to plan, clarify roles and goals, and allocate resources appropriately.

Alive

Congrats, you are beginning to operate from an Alive Mindset. This means that you are open to change, curious about how you can be a productive part of it, and ready to take responsibility for the areas that you have control of rather than dwelling on the areas you don’t. The key to truly coming alive from this change, is to look for ways the change can help you develop your preferred strengths, align with your values, or fulfill some aspect of your personal purpose and vision. If you haven’t spent the time to define your personal strengths, purpose, vision and values, this is essential work to stay out of the Strive mindset, and grow your energy, fulfillment, resilience, wellbeing and impact during change.

Thrive

Woohoo! You are already modelling what it takes to thrive on change! You are focusing on the opportunities inherent in any change rather than the threat of chaos or crisis. Continue to leverage this mindset by stepping back to view the big picture, staying abreast of where trends and technology that impact your industry might be leading, and being proactive about building the change capacity of yourself and your organization.
