Managers use meetings as a way to keep their team informed, problem solve, and plan but few use them as effectively as they could. How do we know? Wasting time in useless meetings is one of the top reasons employees give for not being as productive as they would like to be at work. This training provides participants with an understanding of how to run meetings that enhance, rather than detract from, employee performance and productivity.
Instructional Objectives:
This training program provides participants with the skills and knowledge to run effective meetings. The following topics will be covered:
- Meeting management essentials;
- Why you don’t follow them and what it’s costing you;
- Components of an effective meeting;
- Setting and following an agenda;
- Managing participant input for maximum contribution; and
- How and when to follow-up after a meeting.
Measurable Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this training session participants will:
- Understand how to run more effective meetings;
- Be motivated to invest the necessary preparation time required to get better results from their meetings;
- Feel more confident about managing some of the problem behaviours that can cause meetings to get off track;
- Have simple systems to follow up on decision, discussions, and tasks that result from meetings;
- Be able to evaluate if a meeting is the right format to achieve their objectives; and
- Have clear guidelines for deciding who needs to be included in meetings and who does not.
